VENTURA COUNTY COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER & DONATION NEEDS
For The Farm Workers

Last Thursday, a team of 30 volunteers dispatched from Jubilee Church in Camarillo to locations in Oxnard - La Colonia and Nyeland Acres. Over 20,000 lbs of food, clothing, hygiene items and other misc donations were distributed to farm worker individuals and families in need. A total of over 1200 people were served at the two locations. We will be returning to Nyeland Acres this Thursday for another distribution, see below for more details if you would like to participate.

For those looking for ways to assist, here is a list of the current opportunities:

1) Sponser a food/diaper drive -- Can you ask your church, school, group, neighbors, friends, social group or family members to donate food? Dried beans, rice, masa flour/maseca flour, sugar and other staples are most appreciated by the Mixteca people. We also urgently need diapers and formula for infants and small children. Can you fill a car, pickup or mini-van and deliver these to Jubilee Church in Camarillo? 2) Food Distribution -- This Thursday (3/8), volunteers will be meeting at Jubilee to head out to farm worker homes in Nyeland Acres (101 Freeway@ Rice) to distribute food, clothing and other supplies. If interested in participating, please call the ACTION Ministry Center at 805 987-0300 or send in the Contact form.

Blessings & thank you to the many churches, individuals & organizations that have donated thus far, ACTION has received approximately $9000 to date as well as gift cards, food, diapers & formula! There have been many other donations as well directed to Food Share, Jubilee etc. that we are aware of.

Some businesses/agencies that have donated include Staples, Trader Joes, Manna, Food Share, Children's Hunger Fund, Albertson's, Rovner Construction...just to name a few.

3) Volunteer at FOOD Share, in Oxnard-- As of Monday, March 1, more food donations are needed prior to scheduling more volunteer groups at Food Share, please call first to confirm availability before putting a group together. Can you recruit and lead a team of about 15 volunteers, for one or more dates? Either from your church, school, group, neighbors, friends, social groups, family members?
