Wheelchair Ramp Project, Jan 2007

This ramp was installed by an ACTION team last week in Ventura....you too can participate in blessing families in your local community!

Dear A.C.T.I.O.N:

I am writing to thank you for the incredible ramp you installed at the entry to the house I am renting in Ventura. You have given me a great gift because the ramp access to into the house allowed me to escape a short period of homelessness and reminded me of the powerful and great Goodness that can exist in our world when we act together as people of faith.

The ramp not only allowed me to enter the home I am renting for the first time, it is inspiring all kinds of people in the community. The Housing inspector that came to authorize my moving in told me: “The house is nice but the ramp is amazing!”  The owner was delighted saying “Wow, that ramp is great!” He knew it was a donated operation and clearly the ramp far exceeded his expectation.

All my friends, both those who walk and those who rolling, who have visited my new home are equally awestruck. I know from my life experience that such wide reaching wonderment only happens when the hand of the Lord brushes across the face of the earth.

The suggestion I would give to anyone contacting A.C.T.I.O.N. for assistance is: Prepare to Be Amazed!

We, as Christians, can become bogged down in the negative society we live in and often become focused on how to give to others to save our own souls forgetting that we also must be open to receive. I am very much guilty of this. Perhaps that is why the lord let me become homeless and in a place that forced me to ask for help, not just help from God but also from within the community, and not legal community of City/County, but within the community of believers.  After 53 years of life both in and out of Jesus’ presence, I have finally learned that when the Lord wants to give you a gift of his love, you have to let go of your own desires and control and accept what is given to you. I am enclosing a note of thanks addressed to Tom. Please forward it to him for me as I do not have his address.

I thank the Lord for you daily in my prayers

Elizabeth C
