June 2006 Serve Day Thank Yous

I hope you are all well without any aches or pains from working so hard last Saturday. That was beyond kindness! To fully realize how much actions like these mean to a senior is impossible. When I awakened Sunday morning I thought I had been dreaming and ran out to see if the “pretty friendly garden” was part of a dream, but there it was! Even the youngsters- so sweet and well-behaved did their part to help. I thank them also. I hope and pray that all the un-selfish goodness given by each of you to all the people your dear souls help will come back to you a hundred times over! Thank you so very, very much. Thanks so much for all your help in ACTION both with the organization and with our specific church project.  It was a good experience for our church.  My team had an excellent day and I spoke to many of you team and they also were very blessed by their participation ... not to mention the blessings that went to Food Share, Casa Pacifica & Rain.   Darrell Foote, Camarillo Christian Church

DEAR ACTION TEAM,
Thank you for your leadership. It was a great day of ministry in Jesus Name. Last year Bethany Baptist had 12 people participate in ACTION. We had 46 people serve last Saturday.  A great increase. Thank you again for your efforts - You put people in places where they could serve in the Name of our Lord. There in no higher calling in leadership than that.

Saturday was fantastic and so was Sunday!!  We never saw so much work accomplished and today the man who worked on our sprinkling system came back and finished up!   It is so much nicer!!  Minnie, Channel Islands Bible College

I just wanted to touch bases with you to let you know how incredibly awesome June 3 was for our team.  With our regular team + volunteers we had 20 adults plus kids.  It was so fun to see a caravan of 22 wheelchairs, each with at least one volunteer, caravaning through the sidewalks of Camarillo to the outlet mall.  We made a giant window shopping pass through the mall and then back to the facility.  The seniors were so thrilled to get out.  When one of the volunteers picked a flower and gave it to their senior, the senior couldn't stop crying.  We were told by many of the seniors that it was their most perfect day.  It really was an amazing, amazing, amazing time together.  Thanks for all of your hard work.  Blessings, Cindy Jensen

The residents look forward to our coming. We had a special visitation team this year. They delivered cookies and visited those who desired a visit. A few people have expressed interest in visiting our church. Wonderful things are happening as we return to the park time after time.  Sue Witwer, Christian Church of Thousand Oaks

Thank you so much for the great information and the wonderful help provided by Christian volunteers to paint caution semi-circles in front of doors at our school.  The active demonstration of love through the service of the ACTION volunteers is a blessing to all of us at Aspen.  We do have a very active parent volunteer community at our school and these parents give countless hours to make Aspen a great place for kids.  When your group stepped forward, asked if we had a project, and then completed the project graciously and beautifully, you made a statement to all of us that you, as members of the community surrounding Aspen, care about our school and our students too. 

Our vision at Aspen, is "Hand in hand, creating great futures!"  Thank you for grasping hands with our students, teachers, staff, and parents to make a difference in ways that extend far beyond the yellow paint around our doors.
