You are blessed by God so that you can be a blessing to others

Genesis 12:1-2 – Now the Lord said to Abram, Go forth from your country, and from your relatives, and from your father’s house, to the land which I will how you; and I will make you a great nation and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing.

Genesis 28:14 – Your descendants shall also be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

You are not blessed because of any special characteristics
that you have

Deuteronomy 7:6-8 – For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all people, but because the Lord loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the Lord brought you out by a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.

Joshua 24:13 – And I gave you a land on which you had not labored, and cities which you had not built, and you have lived in them; you are eating of vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.

1 Chronicles 29:11-12 – Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heaven and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. Both riches and honor come from You and You rule over all and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.

A follower of Jesus will be involved in the same things
that Jesus did

Isaiah 61:1 (read by Jesus in Luke 4:16-21) – The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives, and freedom to prisoners, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.
