Ministry to the Homeless and
Under-resourced Families
We can help you team up with churches and agencies who serve the homeless. ACTION partners with a number of different ministries and agencies to help serve the homeless population and under-resourced families. Besides helping to provide basic needs such as food and clothing, this ministry also seeks to expand the supply of available housing-shelter
for those in need.

Ongoing Ministry Opportunities
MacArthur Park Ministry Once a month, Sunday, 3:00pm Ten different Ventura County Churches and ministries are partnering
with this
outreach ministry to the extreme poor and homeless.
Through partnership with World Impact and their Love in Action program,
we have developed an ongoing relationship with La Luz Church in MacArthur
Park, Los Angeles. This is a great local urban ministry serving opportunity,
available for volunteers each Sunday afternoon. Excellent training ground
for urban street ministry, missions service, preaching pastors and Spanish
translators. Ministry time is from 3:00PM until dark. We have a DVD of the MacArthur
Park Video available.
A few of the churches participating are Vineyard (Newbury
Park, Camarillo), Church of the Hills Agoura, Simi Pres, and Calvary Community
Westlake.
Oxnard Park Ministry Every Saturday, 9:00am Similar to the MacArthur Park ministry, this weekly outreach
to the poor is located in Oxnard Community Park. World for Christ
oversees this wonderful community outreach ministry. Each Saturday
morning at 9:00AM, volunteers representing churches all over West
Ventura county come together to feed, clothe and give the word
of God to those in extreme need. For more details or to participate
in this ministry, please contact the ACTION Ministry Center.
El Rio Food Pantry & Tutoring Center Every Saturday, 8:00am-1:00pm We serve the people of El Rio and Nyeland Acres (unincorporated
sections of Oxnard) each Saturday. We operate under the direction of
Mercy Ministries International and are hosted by Bethany Chapel, Assembly
of God Church in El Rio. We provide food for approximately 40 families
weekly. You can volunteer to help box up the food in the morning or
help us love our neighbors when they arrive from 10am to 1pm. Spanish
and Mixtecan language proficiency is appreciated.
