June 3, 2006 Serve Day
June 3, 2006 Serving Day at Channel Islands
Bible College in Nyeland:

June 21, 2006
Greetings to all ACTION participants
Saturday, June 3rd, was a glorious day for the Kingdom of God here in Ventura County. Although the weather was a bit on the toasty side, the ACTION volunteers pressed on to victory in their respective projects. Several groups have even returned a few times already to finish up left over or additional needs. New relationships have been born between Christians and their communities and also between many area churches.
"So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people" Gal
6:10
Seniors, the disabled, low-income families, area social service agencies, schools, churches and many other citizens of the county were immensely blessed by the thousands of work hours put in by ACTION volunteers. In all, some 1200 volunteers participated, representing over 30 churches. Upwards of 50 different agencies and schools were served this time around. We have received many calls, cards and emails sharing positive testimonies about the day. (Attached you will find a sampling of these testimonies.)
"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven...For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matt
6:20-21
As has been shared with you in our various communications, ACTION is preparing to serve the community in greater ways in the weeks and months ahead. The vision of ACTION is to serve the community as the Lord leads, helping to unify the Body of Christ and meet needs as He directs and provides.
What's NEXT for your outreach teams?
This is a question on many of your minds. Many team leaders are asking us why we don't do this very often. Please encourage your team(s) to serve again in their community. Encourage them to get their same team together AND to include others as well. Encourage them to go - especially to keep the relationship going where they have served already or review the updated
project list for new needs in the community. There are additional projects now available.
Following last year's service date, several churches developed an ongoing service outreach ministry. Additional churches this year have indicated a desire to do the same. This can only bring blessings to those involved and glory to the Father! (Attached is a new project list. If you want to take on one of these projects, please let us know. If you develop your own project in your community and need additional help because of the size of the project, let us know as well.)
How Else Can We Help?
Glad you asked. All of you, including your team leaders and volunteers, are God's eyes and ears in the community. We would appreciate any input on project ideas, potential outreach events, and community needs that are visible within your particular spheres of influence. This will help us stay in touch with each area of the county, serving where it is needed. We value your input!
What's NEXT for your church?
The ACTION Community Christmas Shoppes will be returning to both East and West county. This wonderful Christmas season outreach serves low-income families by providing a real toy shop full of Christmas gifts they could not otherwise afford. (Please see the attached information sheet for additional specifics on how you can participate.)
Additional outreaches and service projects are in development through ACTION and through our partnerships with Ventura County agencies. As an example, ACTION will be assisting the United Way in their Annual Day of Caring coming up in September. (For more details, please see the attached future ministry document.)
